Happy Friendship Day

Posted by Trivikram On August - 2 - 2010

Everyone of would have wished their friends Happy Friendship Day, but have we ever thought that why do we celebrate Friendships Day. Some would know and some don’t so for them it will be just messaging to their friends “Happy Friendships Day” and to some more extent it will be calling your friends and telling “Happy Friendships Day”. Then a question will asked that if we don’t wish “Happy Friendships Day” then what shall we say and my answer would be to thank your friend who was always with you unconditionally in your good times, bad times.

If you look back in your past then your friend will always be there while going to school holding hands oops that will be a girl but yes any of your friend will be there, sharing a lunch at lunch breaks, standing outside of class as you will be punished for throwing chalks at fellow students, playing football at lunch breaks with other classes, standing behind when you speak to your crush for the first time, while going tuitions, sharing your dresses, your friend will be there unconditionally (just drinks some tea or coffee at your expenses) when you  wait for hours outside your girl friend hostel or home, sharing your feelings and emotion by crying along with you when you break off sorry this is for girls buy for guys drinking with you all night and consoling you, giving advices if we have had misunderstandings with anyone be it friends, girl friend, boy friend, parents, husband, wife, children. A friend makes us understand the other dimension of a thought process. A perception which we cannot think because we will be blocked with pre conceived notions and emotional biasness.

We are speaking so much about Friend and Friendship but why do we care about friends, why are we attached to friends reason behind that friendship is the only relationship which we choose and friend is the only relative that we choose rest all the relationships are like package offers when we are born along with mom and dad we will be getting grandfathers, grandmothers, brothers, sisters, cousins, uncle aunty totally free with 100% discounts its like get two and get many absolutely free. At the beginning of our life we get everything inherit from our parents but then we want to create our own identity and individuality and choosing a friend is the building block for our own individuality it’s like we will be the creator of our own world and find a friend is the first creation that’s why we don’t let our friends go so easily because those are the creator of our world. We rebel with our parents for our friend, we break rules, laws and regulations, and we do whatever it takes to make our friend happy. So let’s memorize the moments that we have with our friends good & bad both and call our friends, meet them, thank them, make them realize that what they are for us, tell them it’s a great pleasure in having in our life and ask them to be the part of our own created world.

  • True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it be lost."
  • "Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born."
  • "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up."
  • "Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art... It has no survival value; rather is one of those things that give value to survival."
  • "The better part of one's life consists of his friendships."
  • "The greatest good you can do for another is not just share your riches, but to reveal to him, his own."

What is friendship?

Friendship:

is love.
is shared.
is forgiving.
is understanding.
is shared secrets.
heals many hurts.
is not judgmental.
is shared laughter.
is slow and steady.
can be angry at times.
is dependable and true.
is more precious than silver or gold.
is meant to be savored like fine wine.
is not perfect, much like we are not perfect.
does not hold grudges or demand perfection.
makes all the wrong things in life, right somehow.
is meant to be gulped like lemonade on a hot summer day.
is always there, through times of trial, happy times and hard times.
just happens, but once discovered, needs to be tended like a beautiful garden. !!!!

The A to Z of Friendship

Posted by maneesh On July - 11 - 2010

A Friend ...
Accepts you as you are.
Believes in you.
Calls you just to say "hi."
Doesn't give up on you.
Envisions the whole of you (even the unfinished parts).
Forgives your mistakes.
Gives unconditionally.
Helps you.
Invites you over.
Just likes being with you.
Keeps you close at heart.
Loves you for who you are.
Makes a difference in your life.
Never judges you.
Offers support.
Picks you up.
Quiets your fears.
Raises your spirits.
Says nice things about you.
Tells you the truth when you need to hear it.
Understands you.
Values you.
Walks beside you.
X-plains things you don't understand.
Yells when you won't listen.
Zaps you back to reality.
