Flaws in Hindi movies

Posted by maneesh On December - 6 - 2010
  • Baghban: Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini are separated right after Holi remember Amitabh singing Holi khele Raghubeera?). They are said to be separated for six months, ie from March to September.
Within that six-month period, they celebrate Valentine's Day, which falls on February 14, and karva chauth, which is usually observed in October. There is no way these two occasions could come between March and September!
  • Lagaan: Lagaan was shot in the late 19th century. At the time, an over in cricket used to consist of 8 balls. But in this movie, an over has 6 balls. Maybe modern cricket learnt from the movie.
  • Amar Akbar Anthony : Three men donate blood at the same time to the same person.
  • Awwal Number: Dev Anand is an omnipotent genius -- former cricketer, captain, army chief, commissioner, you name it. And Aamir Khan carries a huge transistor in his pocket while batting!
  • Khalnayak: The police tracks the villain from an MS Word Document screen! something that office team will be interested in)
  • Pyar To Hona Hi Tha: Kajol gets off the train to use the public toilet at the railway station and the train chugs off without her. Poor girl, little did she know that every train compartment has four toilets inside.
  • Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi: Akshay Kumar boards a Jet Airways flight to America. Well, well, some promotion for our Indian Jet Airways. Since when did they start flying international?
  • Raja Hindustani: Navneet Nishan has short hair before marriage. After tying the knot, she acquires waist-length hair overnight. What a hair-raising experience!
  • Raja: Dilip Tahil empties a can of petrol over Madhuri Dixit. Minutes later, Sanjay Kapoor takes the same can and pours it over Dilip Tahil. That's what I call an autofill!
  • Guddu: Manisha Koirala and Shah Rukh Khan are seen hanging on a parachute during a song. But when the song ends, they land on a glider. What a switch above sea level!
  • Tere Mere Sapne: Priya Gill is doing her BA. But at the bus stop, she is carrying an electrical technology thesis by B L Theraja. What an electrifying interest!

The Scorpion King (2002)

Posted by maneesh On December - 6 - 2010

Cast: Dwayne Johnson (The Rock)
Steven Brand
Kelly Hu

The movie was okay, not bad or not pretty good. It's okay for a one time watch. The man to lookout for is definitely The Rock. Kelly Hu looked great in her dress. The story is to save the world from an evil villain king. You know how stories are in these kind of movies. I like the OST "I Stand Alone" by Godsmack.

The Mummy (1999): Good adventure movie

Posted by maneesh On December - 6 - 2010

Cast: Brendan Fraser
Rachel Weisz
John Hannah
Arnold Vosloo

Well, the movie was superb as the theme goes. Egypt was a place which is full of mysteries and depicting that in a movie was really good to watch. Oh boy, Arnold Vosloo looked huge in this movie, maybe his dress and all. He really looked like a ghost. Overall, good movie.

The Mummy Returns (2001): Good adventure movie

Posted by maneesh On December - 6 - 2010

Cast: Brendan Fraser
Rachel Weisz
John Hannah
Arnold Vosloo
Patricia Velásquez

This was even better than the sequel, it has more weird mummies than the first one. The sequel was a great one. The director was able to make a relation with the first part. Generally, this aspect is lost or too much twisted in most of the sequels. Patricia Velásquez looked sexy in her Egyptian dress. I liked the Alan Silvestri music. At the end while showing the titles they play that theme music, just listen to that one, don't shut the movie down when it finishes.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008)

Posted by maneesh On December - 6 - 2010

Cast: Brendan Fraser
Jet Li
Maria Bello
John Hannah
Luke Ford
Michelle Yeoh

I don't understand one thing, why did they left Egypt and went to China for mysteries. This was not at all in the league of the above two. When we think of the mummy we look out for only one country, Egypt and never in my wildest dreams I can think of China. The movie was not bad, but I simply liked to see Egypt.

Jaws (1975): Good thriller movie

Posted by maneesh On December - 5 - 2010

Cast: Roy Scheider
Richard Dreyfuss
Robert Shaw

It received 3 academy awards one for Film Editing, second for Music (Original Score) and the third for Sound. This is the best movie of all the sequels and it was a treat to watch. The movie is based on a great white shark which comes in to the beach area and it attacks people.

Jaws 3 (1983)

Posted by maneesh On December - 5 - 2010

Cast: Dennis Quaid
Bess Armstrong
Simon MacCorkindale

I am not sure what's wrong with the Jaws movie sequels, the quality keeps deteriorating as we proceed. This was not bad either but as I said 1st and 2nd part were better.

Jaws 4 (1987): Do Not Watch

Oh boy, this was even more boring than the first three parts. Here the Shark comes for revenge, Oh man I can't take this Jaws stuff no more. Now I will not watch any fifth part, is there's one.

The Great Escape (1963): Good movie

Posted by maneesh On December - 5 - 2010

Cast: Steve McQueen
James Garner
Richard Attenborough

The story of the movie was pretty nice. It tells about prisoners of war who try to escape from a German camp during the World War 2. They dig a tunnel from the camp to escape. Richard Attenborough was good in his role. The movie is good.
