M-Ticket: Railway tickets in your cell phone
Yes, it seems quite strange but it’s true. Now, no need of standing in a long queue waiting for hours just for booking a ticket. Neither you have to pay an extra sum of amount and move around the agents to book your tickets. Now, you can book your own ticket and need not to carry them while journey.
This beneficial service is being provided by Indian Railways. You can log on to www.indianrailways.gov.in and avail this facility. This was announced by former railway minister Mamta Banerjee and had been launched in Kolkata.
The major advantage of this service is, you need not to go carry the print out of the ticket with you while traveling. What you have to do is only to keep the confirmatory message safely in your phone which will be provided by the railway on online booking of ticket. You need to show this message to the ticket checker. This is called M-TICKET system. The booking can be done between 00:30 am to 11:30 pm on all of the week days.
